Private Label FAQs
Quick answers to common questions about private label candles, setup fees, containers, timelines, and reorders.
Getting Started
How do I start a private label project?
Start with a free consultation. We’ll talk through your goals, scent direction, scent strength preference, container plan, quantity, and timeline. If it’s a fit, we confirm next steps and move into development.
Who is private label best for?
Private label is best for businesses that want a candle created specifically for their brand—retail shops, wellness spaces, hospitality brands, creators, and subscription businesses. It’s a good fit when quality, consistency, and performance matter.
What’s the minimum order?
Our minimum order is 48 units per scent, per container.
Fees & Pricing
What is the $50 setup fee for?
The $50 setup fee covers the development work required to create your candle: custom fragrance blending, wick selection, wick testing, burn and safety testing, wax formulation, and production preparation. It applies per scent, wax type, per container.
What if I want multiple scents?
Each additional scent using the same container has a $25 setup fee. This covers additional fragrance development and scent-specific testing.
What if I change the wax or container?
If the wax or container changes (size, diameter, shape, or vessel type), a new $50 setup fee applies. Wick performance and burn behavior change with different wax blends and vessels, so testing must be done correctly to ensure safety standards.
How is production pricing calculated?
Production pricing is based on finished wax weight (per ounce) and your order quantity tier. Containers are supplied by the client or quoted separately if we source them. Visit the Pricing page for the current per-ounce rates and examples.
Containers & Labels
Do you provide containers?
Clients typically supply their own containers so they have full control over look and cost. If you don’t have a vessel selected, we can source simple, generic containers and quote them separately.
Can you help with label design?
Yes. We handle label design and layout needed to deliver a finished candle. If you have brand guidelines, we can work within them. If not, we can create a clean, professional label direction for your product.
Can I use my own label printer or designer?
Yes. If you have a designer or existing files, we can provide the label dimensions and placement requirements for your container so everything fits correctly.
Fragrance, Wax & Quality
Can you match a fragrance I already like?
We can use inspiration from notes, scent profiles, or a reference point you enjoy, but we don’t duplicate proprietary blends from other makers. Your final fragrance is developed specifically for your project.
What wax options do you offer?
We offer a soy blend and a coconut blend. We’ll confirm the best option during your consultation based on your goals and the container you choose.
Are private label candles made with the same standards as your own line?
Yes. Private label candles are developed in-house and hand-poured in small batches using the same high-quality ingredients and standards we use in our own branded products.
Timeline, Shipping & Reorders
How long does a private label project take?
Timelines vary based on container selection, scent complexity, and current production capacity. After your free consultation, we’ll confirm a realistic timeline before development begins.
Do you ship, or can I pick up locally?
Both options may be available depending on your location and order size. We’ll confirm logistics and costs when quoting your project.
How do reorders work?
Reorders are straightforward as long as the scent and container remain the same. Because testing and development are already complete, we can move directly into production for future runs.
Licensing & Insurance
Who is responsible for liability with private label candles?
Olympia Candle Company is fully licensed and insured for candle manufacturing. Private label candles are produced under our coverage, so our partners are not taking on manufacturing or production liability.
